Motorways bring a different pace, longer sight lines and decisions that need to be planned earlier. Tuition gives you space to practise these skills with an instructor beside you, using clear explanations and feedback that reflects your current experience.
Learner drivers can use motorways only with an approved driving instructor in a dual-control car. A learner motorway lesson will go ahead only when your instructor has assessed your driving and judges that you are ready for the higher-speed environment. If you are not ready yet, suitable preparation can begin on other roads first.

Learners may use motorways in England, Scotland and Wales only with an approved driving instructor and in a car fitted with dual controls. Yes. In England, Scotland and Wales, a learner driver may drive on a motorway only when accompanied by an approved driving instructor in a car fitted with dual controls. DMSM will only take a learner onto a motorway when the instructor judges that they are ready.
